Every Second Counts

This time last week, I was wishing for an extra hour in the day. Oh universe, you never fail to provide perspective! Like many of you, I am now homeschooling my Kindergartener and trying to find a new balance. If you also find your daily routine completely upended, and you no longer have a guaranteed time (or place) to workout, now is the time to prioritize intensity— make every second you have to workout count.

Set aside or take advantage of 10, 20 or 30 minutes. That’s all you need, really! A quick warm-up to get your heart rate up and get you ready to move. After that, it’s 3-2-1, Go! Here are some tips to maximize your workout time:

  • Have a plan. There are many great resources that are free, or reduced cost inlight of the coronavirus outbreak. We are also offering 2 weeks of free personalized programming.

  • Make it burn. Get your heart rate up, make it uncomfortable enough that you kinda don’t want to keep going, but you can.

  • Something is better than nothing. You may not have the equipment you are used to or the time to devote to skill work, but moving, stretching doing something is what is important.

  • Celebrate! Yes, there is a lot that is out of our control right now, so let’s celebrate what our bodies can do and that we are healthy enough to do it!

When I’m working out, I try to remind myself that someday things will change. For now, my job is to keep myself healthy because now there is even more on my shoulders. Taking some time to yourself to workout is important so make the most of it!
